The carefully engineered formula is designed to penetrate easily into the deepest part of the wood, imbuing the entire structure with strong resistance to the damaging effects of moisture and UV light. As well as delivering excellent practical qualities, Cromar Wood Treatment also enhances aesthetic value by accentuating the natural texture and grain of the wood surface it is applied to.
How to Use Cromar Wood Treatment
- As with all construction and renovation applications, proper preparation is absolutely key. If the wood to be treated has any previous coatings like stains or topcoats then these should first be appropriately removed. Make sure that the wood is clean and dry.
- Cromar Wood Treatment is flammable so make sure it is kept away from any source of ignition. The formula is solvent-based so use only in areas that are well ventilated. Also, be sure to protect things like plants, soil and the aquatic environment from any splashing that may occur during application.
- Choose a day in which rainfall is not predicted for a period of at least 12 hours.
- Cromar Wood Treatment is supplied ready-to-use and no thinning is necessary. Make sure that the cap is tightly screwed on and vigorously shake the container. This step should be repeated regularly throughout application.
- You can now begin applying the formula using a brush (note that Cromar Wood Treatment should not be applied using a sprayer). Spread the formula evenly and thinly, working in the direction of the wood grain.
- Up to three coats may be required depending on the species and porosity of the wood.
- The treated wood should be protected from the rain until is is completely dry, a process which takes between 12 and 24 hours. Drying may take longer if humidity levels are especially high or if ambient temperature is especially low.
- The brush or brushes used should be cleaned immediately after application using white spirit.
- Any leftover product can be stored for up to one year in the original container with the cap tightly closed and in an place where the temperature does not exceed 30°C.
