Happy Birthday to Greengate's Builders Merchant Premises!

The 29th of July will be a very special day at Greengate's: it's the first anniversary of our new site. It's hard to believe that a whole year has passed since we made the big move but, as everyone says, time certainly does fly when you're having fun!

Bidding farewell to our old premises was an event with very mixed feelings: on the one hand it was sad to say goodbye but on the other hand it was extremely exciting to be entering a new phase of our continuing development.

Out with the Old...

Greengate's builders merchant was established in 1987, at which time we had just five employees and a single wagon. The site, located at Whalley Road in Accrington, had plenty of history, having been used in the building trade for well over a century. Previous occupants included a roofing supplier, an apprenticeships company and another builders merchant. For more than 30 years, this site was home to our independent, family owned company, which supplies professional-quality building materials to trade and DIY customers in the Lancashire area and beyond.

...in with the New!

Last year, we made the decision to move to our new premises. This decision was made due to our ever-increasing number of employees (now standing at 18), a constantly growing product portfolio and a fleet of new vehicles. The new site, located at Whinney Hill Road in Accrington, has allowed us the space we need to comfortably accommodate our existing staff, products and vehicles, as well as giving us plenty of room for further expansion as we seek to always improve the experience of our valued customers.

We invite you to visit us on Wednesday 29th July to celebrate our first birthday here. Our opening hours are 8am-4pm with a half-hour closure for lunch from noon until 12:30pm. In line with government guidelines, please wear a mask or face covering when you visit us.
