To maintain the attractive appearance of your artificial grass, you need to keep it clean and it's best to do this fairly regularly instead of leaving dirt to build up over a long period of time. The cleaning process is easy and can be done with a garden hose or simply a bucket of soapy water. As well as washing away dirt, dust and debris, regular cleaning will get rid of any airborne seeds that could grow into surface weeds (more about these below).

Artificial grass installations should include the laying of weed control fabric underneath and this will prevent most weed growth. Weeds can sometimes grow on the surface of artificial grass lawns but it's easy to remove these by gently pulling them up. A regular cleaning routine should ensure that they never grow in the first place. If they become a real problem, you can apply weedkiller as you would on a real grass lawn.

When regularly walked on, artificial grass will eventually become flattened down. Resolving this issue is easy: all you need to do is give it a good brush. It's important to note that, for best results, you should use a brush that has synthetic bristles. As well as keeping the lawn looking perky, brushing will help to prevent any matting. Make sure that you brush against the pile of the artificial grass.
